The Lions squad has been announced for the second test with three changes. Daly moved to the bench for Chris Harris to start, Price benched to make room for Murray and Sutherland benched for Vunipola who made a huge impact later in the first test. Despite calls for Ireland's Jack Conan to be removed from the squad by the like of former tour captain, Sam Warburton, Gatland defended him saying "He doesn't make mistakes... and he does a lot of the unspectacular stuff that you need in a forward pack to get the balance right". Gatland backed up his words by once again choosing Conan in the starting 15 for the second test. There's been plenty of talk around Vunipola's performance and confusion as to why Murray is starting when Price's form is peak at the moment. But it makes sense when you try to think about it from Gatland's perspective. Vunipola came into the pack on Saturday and out scrummaged the Springboks with such ferocity, whilst his form early in the tour may not have been outstanding, clearly he has the Springbok pack's number. With regards to Murray it's absolutely undeniable the experience and expertise he brings to the number 9 shirt. I also feel he's saving Price's speed and go forward for later in the game when, as we saw on Saturday, South Africa are tired. Price will no doubt outpace SA and keep the BIL moving. Lastly Chris Harris making the squad is absolutely a defensive move. Watch any Squidge Rugby video on Scotland and you'll see what I mean. Chris Harris doesn't let anyone past, his tackle number and success rate is consistently high. That's my take anyway. Whilst inside I may be shouting for Ian Henderson and Aki to get a place in the 23, it's hard to argue with a coach who's just went and picked a squad that took out the World Champions.
